I'll say go if 70-200 F4 on-IS is still expensive and you need 300mm instead of 200mm at the long end.
Tamron is very nice lens, but not the L lens by IQ.

VC is also a big selling point for this lens. Shooting @ 200mm on a crop without stabilization will require at least 1/320s shutter speed. It is sometimes difficult to get that shutter speed, esp. of your camera sensor doesn't have good high-ISO capabilities.

I am sure you will enjoy the Tamron. I find it on my camera a lot and love the images I can capture wi it.

I have the Tamron. Use it mostly for shooting my grandchildren's soccer games. It does a good job in AI Servo mode of keeping your subject in focus as they move.

The 70-300 will be here tomorrow!!!!

Yes!!! This is my first time experiencing it. I feel like it is Christmas Day. Too bad yesterday was my last day of vacation and it's back to reality today.

Actually, in real world 200mm X 1/200 is OK.
