I am considering trading (or selling if the trade doesn't go through) my Tammy 28-75 for the Sigma 50 1.4. I am really enjoying primes. As you can see I have the Sigam 30 and EF 85. I love the low light, wide apertures, sharpness, and honestly I think it makes me work/think a little more about the shot rather than zooming in and out and firing away. Not to mention that I'm finding some zooms have some FL's that require a little different approach with regard to aperture choice. THe prime lens just seems to simplify the equation a bit, force you to hunt around for the shot you are looking for, and offer the other advantages mentioned above. THis would put me as the all prime guy. BTW, I don't even come close to making money with my camera. I am an enthusiist (sorry for the misspelled werds, no spel chek here at werk :)).

I have been to the PLA thread...Prime lens anonymous

I say trade. you would more or less have the same focal lengths covered. I think a 50mm on a 1.6 crop is great especially since it will more of less be a 80mm F1.4. I'm trying to make a change to just prime lenses as my primaries and then have my 16-35 and 24-70 as back ups.

I agree with the top poster, trade would be a reasonable thing to do at your situation.

If as you say that you like primes, I would suggest trading. You have the built in knowledge with your freind's lens in regards to focus accuracy. I assume that hteir are no issues with either lens?

If you're looking at a Sigma 50 1.4, be sure you can try it before handing over your lens.
