I'm picking up a canon 1DMkii from a journalist for 550.00

The shutter was replaced by canon and only has 10K clicks....

Meeting him tonight!

Just joined in with the arrival of my 1DmkIIn today. Purchased from here. The camera is in excellent shape, but I have 1 issue I'm not sure about. Put cards in both sides. The CF is fine but the SD won't format the card. Tried three different cards and starting to think the slot is bad. Could use some guidance from one of you guys.

anyone know anyone looking for a 30D? Selling mine is the only thing keeping me from getting a 1D mk II n, and I've been trying for over a month now..can't figure out why it won't sell.

Just picked up a Canon 1D MKII.... not happy with the LCD, but ehhh... i got it at a great deal...

Can anyone give some tips on the custom functions for shooting sports?

Also, i noted that my canon 24-70 f/2.8 is really show in low light, but my canon 70-200 f/4 is much faster than that 70...

when shooting with the 24-70 @ 70mm the camera cannot get a good focus unless it has good light... ideas?

I'd set it to * button AF.

None of the 3 are locked and don't have anything on them. They are all SDHC, but the firmware on the camera is current. The previous owner was using a 2GB SD and said it worked fine.

I shot a whole volleyball game using the * button AF but couldn't get used to it. Just felt weird.
Maybe because I have the "Megan Fox Thumbs"

David,
This is an often quoted link that might give you some ideas where to start:

That's a reasonable price for a 30D. Hang in there....a buyer will come along ! It's getting to be a rather old camera, and sadly, there are a lot of buyers who think they need the latest camera. Which is of course nonsense. A person can do excellent work with a 20D or 30D.

People won't even bite on 40Ds either. Either you're going to have to sell it for cheaper or try eBay / local ads.

I'll second that. I love how it gives a psuedo "focus lock" since further presses on the shutter won't cause it the re-focus. I like that option so much, I enabled it on my 20D, too.
