Definitely buy the mark I if it works and is decent condition. If you don't keep it, it will sell VERY easily and you can get a free mark II as mentioned already.

IMO, the 35mm 2.0 is still very plastic. The sigma 30mm and 50mm looks/feel way better than the canon ones in terms of built.

I don't, but I read enough on the forum to know how the 2 lens compare to each other.

I am not saying the lens is not worth the $79 that the buyer intend to pay....but I rather spend on a brand new mark 2 with warranty, after all the mark 1 is more than 10 year old lens and you never know the condition of the used lens?

Sorry, but you really have no idea what you're talking about here, its best just to admit you were wrong and move on.

You might had dodged a bullet! He showed a picture of a Canon lens, but said he had Nikon lens. Sounds kinda screwey to me.

Many craigslist people don't have any idea what they are selling.

Even though it says "Canon" on it the guy might think it's a Nikon. Many are not too bright. You should have just asked him: "Is that an actual photo of the lens you are selling?"

To get super bargains, you the buyer have to know what is good, often from blurry photos. You also have to act fast, don't play around because someone else will get the bargain.

Basically, the only similarities between the MkI & MkII is the optics.
