Does anyone know how long the 50D on the canon refurb site has been out of stock? Just curious before I just say f* it and spring for a 7D.

NB: Would much rather buy a 50D, the 7D is excellent and all...but I really could use the money for other things :P

NB2: I'm not willing to buy a used 50D. I think it's too risky to spring for a used body, too many things could have gone wrong and I might not find out til a month later. Just my take on it, would rather spend more and have a reliable body.

I've held a 60D and it felt more like a consumer than a prosumer product. I cried a little bit.

Agree fully, even though I haven't held it.

1) I really don't like plasticky feeling bodies. It makes me feel like I dropped 700$ on a pile of junk IMO. (Other people think plastic is great, if that's you then that's great)

2) The 60D isn't an upgrade from the 50D. The 7D is the upgrade. But I don't have the money for a 7D and it's got lots of extra features that I don't need (extra 3MP, video, internal flash control)

Back to the main question, I'm aware no one knows when they will be back IN stock, but does anyone know when the 50D went out of stock?

SD cards are the biggest reason why I think it's a downgrade. I always seem to break those SD cards, and I have a nice amount of CF cards. And the removal of buttons and dials and stuf from the back relative to the 50D. Others opinions on the negatives may vary. I really like the wireless flash triggering and videoness of it. But still, 50D>60D for me.

Thursday. They only had a few apparently, vs the 400 7d bodies that showed up.

Not too long ago. I saw some in stock 3 days ago, has been out since. The availability changes pretty often, just gotta keep your eyes peeled.

Oh damn that's good to know. Just wanted to know if it was days or months. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks again.

In my opinion stupid little devices that should be relegated back to point and shoots only!

There is no place for SD cards for DSLRs.
