shoot a raw picture and see if it's any different. Try resetting your camera too and then pack it off to Canon I guess. If you bought it at a local store, take it in and see if they have any ideas for you.

It could be a white balance+picture style issue.
Try reset your camera settings.

Thanks for the replies. Like I initially said, I don't anticipate being able to fix the problem, but was enquiring whether anyone had encountered it before. Apparently not!

To answer your queries: No, the issue doesn't appear in live view, only after the shot has been taken; I have updated firmware and got the problem afterwards too; I have tried different settings for white balance, shooting mode, etc and it seems to make no difference; and, as I said before, it also occurs in video mode. I haven't tried RAW mode, so will do that.

The big problem now is that since I posted on here, the fault hasn't re-occurred. This is the typical problem with random faults - when you want it to go wrong, it doesn't! So I now have the dilemma of whether to send it off to Canon, only for them to say they can't reproduce the issue, can't find a fault, and charge me for wasting their time...

Did the camera get wet in any way? Did the camera go from one extreme temperature to another?

Send it in to canon anyway else the problem will return 5 days after the warranty expires.

I agree, send to Canon... Send along a CD with video showing this issue... Otherwise they may not do anything if they can not get it to repeat. Send a CD along with videos showing it, you should get taken care of!
