Hmmm... Probably around 1000€ or something? I'm going to sell off quite a lot though... I can come by with my lovely MF lenses! No need for expensive stuff ;)
Sell of 500€ of stuff, then probably buy for an additional 1000€ to have actually everything I want. I don't see myself spending more than 2000€ tops, even if I had the means to. Photography is a hobby of mine, but not my passion.

i started nov 2010, with a kit t2i. i suddenly dont feel bad about what ive spent - $3200, but net i am around $2100, and if i count on fantasy football winnings, im at a cool G.

now i feel a bit better about trying to justify an upgrade to 5DII, even though my t2i is more than sufficient for me, lol

6-7000$ , all since January:oops::o, dont anyone ever tell the wife thing;) Lenses/equipment in Norway is waaaaay more expensive than in the U.S.

That is why going lens shopping in the US can end up giving you decent savings even after considering airfare. ;)

Since January, I've spent roughly $3,000.

Double that since we buy two of everything in our household :)

Neither of us have really spent a lot on lenses yet. But we have our want lists.

In the neighborhood of $5k in 3.5 years. That's current value. Not sure what I spent in all. Not bad. Lots more I want, but nothing I can afford! Actually for the past couple years I've been selling things to fund new purchases, so it has been at $5k for probably 2 years now.

There it is right there. To a certain degree its like buying a very expensive bottle of wine, thatd youd never drink, or a beautiful painting, that youll only look at. Some things in life serve no functional purpose whatsoever other than to make us happy. My camera equipment does that and MUCH MUCH more! For some of us the mere fact of owning and marveling in its presence is a reward and worth the upgrade or purchase. I dont buy my gear to "show off" to anyone. In fact, damn near NO ONE even SEES my gear! Its an investment for ME, because I love it, love having the right tool for the job whenever I do or even MIGHT need it, love the art and hobby and because I have the money to do so. Simple as that.

well put, same as the post you were respondin to.

i just started again with no gear, the past 3 weeks ive sunk about 4k but in total iv'e sank about 6k.
i dont mind spendin it one bit. you're right, its like buying a nice bottle of wine, or painting, or plant, all of which my wife does. ive also spent some crazy cash on some plants for her, but our garden looks great, and we're both happy, and into our hobbies.

but to answer the question, so far about 6k total and i dont have an L lens yet. LOL

a little bit of this, a little bit of that

Typical buy/sell/buy/sell story...over this past year...

1. Bought an Nikon MF 85/1.8 Nikkor-H beater for $50 off Craigslist
2. Sold my 85/F2 MF Nikkor for $125 (someone got a deal therel...net + $75 to me)
3. Bought a pristine 85/1.8 Nikkor-H for $100 off CL (new net - $25)
4. Sold the beater 85 NIkkor for $70 (new net + $45)

Then...
5. I bought a mint 85/1.8 Nikkor-K (rare, AI modified) as part of a $550 package, again from Craigslist
...and
6. Resold the entire package for the same $550 with the "H" (from #3) in place of the "K" that I had lusted after for 25 years...

So after a year of a half-dozen buy/sells and bunch of 85mm Nikkors, I ended up with a long-sought-after gem and $45 in my wallet...until I found a Nifty50 for $45...amazing how it all works out....
