There it is right there. To a certain degree its like buying a very expensive bottle of wine, thatd youd never drink, or a beautiful painting, that youll only look at. Some things in life serve no functional purpose whatsoever other than to make us happy. My camera equipment does that and MUCH MUCH more! For some of us the mere fact of owning and marveling in its presence is a reward and worth the upgrade or purchase. I dont buy my gear to "show off" to anyone. In fact, damn near NO ONE even SEES my gear! Its an investment for ME, because I love it, love having the right tool for the job whenever I do or even MIGHT need it, love the art and hobby and because I have the money to do so. Simple as that.
well put, same as the post you were respondin to.
i just started again with no gear, the past 3 weeks ive sunk about 4k but in total iv'e sank about 6k.
i dont mind spendin it one bit. you're right, its like buying a nice bottle of wine, or painting, or plant, all of which my wife does. ive also spent some crazy cash on some plants for her, but our garden looks great, and we're both happy, and into our hobbies.
but to answer the question, so far about 6k total and i dont have an L lens yet. LOL
