Maybe he figured out they were stolen goods and wanted to offload them ASAP? No one with any knowledge would offload those lenses for that price.

i never understand why everyone says they must be stolen...you'd think a thief would just google the lenses and be able to figure they are worth more than that...

either way your friend of a friend is an idiot :)...enjoy the new gear...

you can also look up the serial numbers here, although i'm sure not every stolen lens makes it on the list...may give you some peace of mind though:

I agree, a lot of negativity in here. Can't really blame most folks as they (we) shelled out thousands of $$$ for gear. Hey if you're lucky you're lucky right? No need to hate.

If you want peace of mind, you could take the serial numbers & lens down to the police department and let them run the numbers. How well do you know your friend?

You are giving thieves too much credit. They want to unload the stuff asap, not haggle it for a good price.

Realitycheck; This has nothing to do with negativity. Common sense is more like it.

For some reason no...

Well I guess i am just going to think he is dumb and really needed cash.
Hopefully they weren't stolen

its ok...i understand how you feel...with all that guilt hanging over your head...its not worth it to get gall stones in the future because of all that stress. Obviously you don't want to contact your friend cos you are feeling bad for taking advantage of him. Tell you what, send them over to me, along with your friend's address...I'll set things straight with him. I'll paypal you the amount you paid for them.

...oh and your welcome!

who cares if you feel guilty, if they do turn out to be stolen, then guess what...you are going to be out the money because you have stolen property....that is IF they are stolen.

I sure hope they weren't stolen. I would feel bad using them...

Well then you shouldn't have told everyone on here in the first place. I mean I knew what everyone on here would say when I saw the title of this thread. Stolen or not, good for you! Next time take your wife/gf out for a fancy dinner to celebrate instead of bragging in an online forum :D

Not saying they must be stolen and I am jealous of what you got, but it's worth it just for peace of mind and conscience, you should probably ask your friend about the legitimacy of these gears.
If you know the goods are obtained for way below market values, it may constituted as possession of stole properties.

Did you get them with boxes, manuals... Obviously, there was no receipt otherwise he would have known the actual price.

Gee I wish I had a friend that would rip me off and take advantage of me when I needed some cash. He must be big on payday lenders too.
