My wife says that I should throw out all the boxes I keep , stuff like the MacBook's box and the new Sony Vaio box and all my Canon boxes . At what point should one throw the boxes away if at all? What would you do with these boxes?

If we could break people of wanting the box for some unknown reason when you sell something... We could get rid of all of the boxes.... Until then, I think we're stuck with them... Or... If you know for 100% sure that you're not going to sell something... Go ahead. Ditch the box.... Until then, we need to encourage prospective buyers to not care about the damn box... That's the only reason I hold on to all of mine...

I so agree... everytime I try to sell an unwanted lens that's the first thing they ask, "do you have the box it came in?"...

I know, right? I'm just sayin'...

I love it when you are selling something like a battery - and they ask, do you have the box that the battery came in ? (yes, actually I do.... because I too, am a box hoarder - LOL)

You can sell them on ebay for $10-$35 each...or retain them in case you want to sell your gear later (cause you'll get $10-$35 less without the box:-)

I just wanted to check in and let it be known that I am also a box hoarder and have been long before I got my first DSLR. I don't know why, but I save them all.

Ironically, I see people selling them on e-mail from time to time.

And my name is Evan, and I'm a box-aholic too.

I think that's the way it is for a lot of stuff. I tried pawning a .357 and the guy told me he wouldn't take it without the original box it came in.

Keep just in case if you'll sell these items. I still have boxes of my equipment like lenses, laptops, etc.

I've moved my empty boxes twice... can't bring myself to throw them away!
