Was I too heavy handed?

I had my WB on shade last Sunday, because I quite liked the orangy yellow cast it put on the pics, but I'm starting to think it was just a bit too overdone, so I've gone back and put it on daylight. Now I'm thinking it looks better. What's the general opinion please.

I'm a sucker for warm tones - somehow I still like the first best.

I love the warm tones on this photo. Side by side, the daylight version seems bland, IMO

I like the first shot better, but I wonder if something just a little cooler might look best. Have you tried 'cloudy' or a manual WB that is somewhere around 6000k?

No, not yet but I might have a play around with it to see what I come up with.

the red appears to be clipping on the first image. Did you try to drop the overall color saturation? I prefer the more natural colors of #2, but try dropping the saturation on #1 to see if it can retain the golden color, just less of it.

I've gone back and added cloudy to the mix, it might be the happy medium between the three.

yeah, the medium image looks good to me.

What color is the dog?
The first looks like it's tan, 2nd/grey, 3rd pale tan.
to me it would be important to get the color correct.

the middle pic is the nearest to correct but that is definitely not a grey whippet. It's yellowy fawn brindle.

Side by side, I prefer the Daylight balanced one; but if I were only presented one option, I think I'd like the Cloudy one a lot. It looks like it was shot in LATE afternoon sun.

I usually keep my 40D on Cloudy most of the time. After all, I can always use the WB slider in Lightroom if it's too sunny or not sunny enough.
