Road bikers here in NYC actually where MTB shoes instead of road dedicated because we have to walk around a lot after we stop riding. Ever try going down some stairs with some road shoes FACE PLANT!

Nice! I used to have some SIDI track boots when I had my street bike (crotch rocket) a couple years ago. SIDI makes some great stuff.

As for the road shoes and going down stairs in them, I would not know. BUT, I am usually the guy face-planting going UP stairs in ANY shoes. LOL

Do those shoes really help though? I mean are they more comfy than like jogging shoes or tennis shoes or something? Guess I've never really gotten that serious into riding (not enough time or money to).

At falling up stairs

They make a big difference in power output from your legs. Since your clipped in your not just pushing the peddles down but your also lifting them up. This allows you to focus your pedaling on creating a smooth oval shaped stroke. Its made a big difference in speed and endurance for me. My GF who sees me pedal says i make it look so easy and i tell her its because I'm clipped in and not just pushing the pedal down to move forward.

The shoes are also very very comfortable. SIDI makes some quality stuff. Walking around in them is no different than when i walk around in my baseball cleats. Difference is i can stay in the SIDI's all day.

They are!! You just have to remember to twist your feet to release when you come to a stop, otherwise.... Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimbeeee​eeeeeeeeeeer....When you flick back to a MTB, you still tend to twist when you stop at first. Makes you look like a right tosser

I think everyone goes through the timber part at least once. Some more than others

Yup! I tipped over once so far. Caught myself the second time. From speaking to seasoned riders it happens to them as well from time to time. Nature of the beast

Biking in NYC doesnt help matters with all the people and sometimes the stop and go action which can occur at a moments notice

Well then, where should we put the new thread? It seems it's either in the Urban section or...I haven't heard back from any of the folks on the Walk a Mile thread.

You knoiw the thought occurs to me that we could keep this thread going to chat more about biking since much of the posts here are from the biking enthusiastic viewpoint! I'd like to see a photo sharing thread that is about the photo sharing!
