My first camera was some old Vivtar 35mm with a lens that you could manually flip and it would go from wide to zoom, it had a motor drive and I got it from Service Merchandise and I thought it was amazing. I was maybe 11 or 12. Then I had a Kodak APS camera, and finally my first digital was a Sony P&S with a Zeiss lens, I think it was something like 2.1 MP that I got for graduation from high school in 2000...have had a couple other P&S since, and my first DSLR is my 60D that I got in Feb!

I was young so I have no idea of the brand.

-it looked like a Rolleiflex, but was obviously not
-it had a flip top and you looked down into it
-the flash was an attachment and took those blue flash bulbs
-i was so young I have no idea it if was 35mm or something else
-circa 1973, but it was a hand-me-down, so i think it was made in the 60's

Growing up I had a couple different 110 and 35mm p&s cameras that I can't name at this point. My first SLR was a Pentax ME Super. First DSLR was the Pentax *istD. Just got my first Canon DSLR, the 7D.

I also have a collection of cameras that are older than I am, including an original Rolleicord, a Zeiss Ikon Contessa, and a 9x12cm view camera that takes glass plates. I'm not the first photographer in my family so when I got into it I inherited a few old classics.

I'll never forget looking through the plastic viewfinder of my instamatic after climbing a mountain in 1977.

Next day off I bought an OM-1.

Assorted p&s cameras growing up, the first camera I bought myself was a film p&s, Pentax IQZoom140. Loved that camera, still have it. I did use come Canon film SLRs in my high school photography classes. First digital was some crappy no-name brand that my boyfriend at the time got me for Christmas. Thanks to that camera, most of the pictures I have from my son's first 8 months are blurry  Then I got my first DSLR, the Rebel XT. Kept that nearly 5 years, and got a 7D last August.

My first decent camera wasn't really mine, but my Dad's. It was a Konica Rangefinder. It was a good one to learn on. My first SLR was a Canon TLb. From there I went to an FTb, which I still have. First digital was some Minolta thing; 1.3 MEGAPIXELS, BABY!!! I then got a Canon Digital Rebel, then a 20D, then a 40D.

I've got my sights set on a 5D MKII...

First camera that I learned on was my dad's Sony digital something or other. It was CD-R based, which would was great when it came out since memory cards couldn't hold much back then, but was quite annoying to use since there would literally be about 20-30 seconds in between each shot. The camera itself was pretty decent though.

The first camera that I actually owned is my T1i, which is still my main camera.
