Nice collection of images. Clearly you have an interest in product and still life photography. Best to go through this thread to see if there are tips you can pick up.

what a wonderful collection of watches and great photographs, thank you Canonised for starting this tread and sharing your knowledge and experiences. I have never photograph watches before so I'm going to use these for my photo shoot,

May I ask where you got these watches from?

Hello CanonISED

Thanks for your replay , I was wondering what your thoughts Of a Lightbox compare to have strobes?

and what type of equipment you use for your amazing Photos.

I do not quite understand the question. Is it either/or type of question? It all depends on the conditions and type of watches being photographed. Lightboxes are very important to control the surrounding lighting if you are shooting outside of a studio. In a studio or controlled environment, softboxes and other home made or specially made diffusers and light modifiers. I use all the available types of modifiers found in the market and play around the different types to suit the different watches and the style I want to shoot.

I try very hard to keep a "type" of look but I also try very hard to keep it fresh. The moment all the watches started to look alike in same positions and same style, its stale and no longer interesting - no matter how technically perfect it is. For me, freshness and creative method of showing a watch comes first before technical perfection. I leave that to the professionals doing the ads. In my view, doing a perfectly technical shot to please creative directors based on today's styles is not difficult. Its shooting the watch to show the essence of its character for the client - that is the hardest part.

Because of that, I never rely on one style or method - whether constant light, diffuser, light box etc. That is the death of imagination. We must all guard against that.

Just found this thread, I used to be a HUGE watch nut, but the economy as well as the photography hobby has changed my interests, but I thought I would share some of my old pix. All these taken with a P/S camera, a few years ago.
