Thanks mate.

The 70-200mm f/2.8 is undeniably heavy and when carrying it for a long period of time can become cumbersome but I wouldnt change it for the f/4, it performs great at 2.8 and combine that with 200mm of zoom you can get some fantastic subject serperation.

The biggest think i noticed when buying the 70-200 is how amazing the canon usm focus is which has made me a little irritated with the Tamron focus, but for the price the Tamron is still worth it. Will upgrade eventually...

You following this guide?
http://www.zarias.com …torial-part-1-gear-space/ (external link)

He does note that some lenses don't do well shooting at the bright background -

When you start shooting into the background when you have lit up like a roman candle you will find that one lens may perform better than another in this situation. When you light that white background you are essentially shooting INTO a very large light source. You can run into all sorts of flare and chromatic aberration (CA) problems with some lenses. I know that my Nikon 35mm f2 and my Nikon 105mm f2 lenses perform really well for this. My Nikon 50mm 1.8 looks like butt. Ugly butt. It is worthless when shooting on a pure white background due to flare and CA and it adds a big ugly purple spot right in the dead center of the photo. A Nikon 50mm 1.4 holds up much better. My 80-200 f2.8 also looks horrible. My 85 f1.8 does “ok” but it isn’t that great. You’ll just need to test a few of your lenses for this. You may find that a zoom works better at one end of the focal length than the other.

Yer I was, I'm of the opinion I was getting way to much bounce around the room which was making it difficult to light the subject without it being contaminated by the lights on the bg.

Will be having another go this weekend with more control measures to try and minimise the light hitting walls / ceilings.

lol all this for a cake smash shoot with my little one in the near future...

Guys need help, picked this brand new lens couple of weeks ago, i see some dust inside. currently shooting without any filters.
Dust getting inside is normal for this lens?
Should i use any filters like UV to avoid dust?

thanks in advance
