Noob question: what is the little button type thing on the body of the 1d right under the lens? I wish I could grab some these manuals that are in the marketplace sometimes, but they go so quickly!

Edit: oh! And if anybody could point in the right direction of a part number for the wire to transfer captures straight from the body to the computer...and maybe a free raw converter software

Canon U.S.A have the user manual and RAW converter via DPP on line.
The button I think you are looking at is the depth of feild button.
As for the firewire cable it should be able to be obtained from any half decent electronics or computer shop, hope this helps.

More 1D.

I like the first one.. Over in the C&C department, they would most likely only notice that it's a bit underexposed. But I really think that can work well with the 1D. The heavy contrast brings out those rich deep colors that I love the CCD for :)

These three all hold special places in my heart. No matter how many new cameras I shoot with, I always come back to these.

^^^Thanks.
Great pics from you as well. Nice collection you have there.

The colours from the camera are fantastic, it's one of the things I notice in comparison to the 60D I have sold due to using the 1D all the time....

I feel old, only owning "classic" bodies lol

It never gets old, staring at the 1D with the 70-200 on it. First pic taken with the "new" 5D. ISO3200 O.O

Tossing about selling my minty 1dc. I repurchased it from a guy who got it from me as part of a trade for a 1d3. I just don't shoot with it and would rather use it to fund a 50L. About 18k clicks, boxes, manual, charger, look absolutely brand new. I just purchased two new Canon LP-E6 batteries; CPS strap as well. Just thinking about it at this time; PM me if you're interested. I may put it in the fs thread eventually.

Film, suckers.

haha, with my messed up body from sports and car accidents (motorcross, track racing etc) my body sure as hell feels old ;)

edit:

and a quick photo of the 5D taken with the aforementioned 1D w/ 70-200 f4L combo.
