I have a 7D. I just bought this: Wireless Remote (external link) It is awful and I will be returning it. There was a 3 second delay from pressing the shutter button to when it actually fires. Also it malfunctioned a few times and kept firing off at 8 fps in like 5 shot bursts over and over until I shut it off. Awful.

So... I need a radio transmitted (not IR) remote that would work with the 7D.

Anyone have success with anything other than the $500 canon one? I have been searching but there are about 10 knock-offs with pretty terrible reviews.

Thanks!

Thanks, I was thinking about getting one of the cheap IR remotes for my 7D but didn't like the fact that you had to be in front of the camera.

That's what I have and it's worked quite well the few times I have used it.

is there a delay when you push the shutter to when the camera actually fires?

have you tried it with continuous shooting? does it fire in just 3-4 shot bursts, or as long as you have the button down?

thanks!

I have a very similar looking remote that is labeled "Phottix". It has always worked perfectly.

I suspect you just got a bad unit.
