I'll add my two cents on the Adorama one. About the only thing I don't like is that the top is just a flap that folds over. On the sides are openings where dirt or other junk can get in. It would be nice if it closed like a cigarette pack where the sides are closed, too. That's my only beef. For the price it's a great deal, especially if you only have a few filters.

Good point; I've passed your suggestion over to the purchasing department for consideration.

I wonder if the Lee Leather Filter Pouch: http://www.leefiltersusa.com …/show/ref:C477E2B5B06C64/ (external link) also has the microfibre to be avoided?

I have the Lee 10 Filter pouch and its not very useful in my opinion. Its about the size of a day organizer and has no proper spot for the holder. The LowePro seems like the best option. My new bag has mounting points for the belt clip, making it useful for shooting and changing filters in the wild.

Ok I've tried 2 more pouches after I got 1 that bend my filters. I'm currently using the lee filter book style multiple filter pouch (external link)

Previously I was using the clik elite square filter valet (external link), its very good for organizing, same like the kinesis filter pouch (external link) which have tabs to organise. But sadly the valet does not includes the labels you have to cut yourself to put into those plastic tabs while Kinesis you have to purchase the tab separately. (Clik elite does not sell the tabs labels at all)

Next I got the Lowepro S&F Filter pouch (external link). Cheapest and best value for money. It can store up to 10 filters as well, allows you to hang to your belt and can even take your filter adaptor rings and holders. That is how big it is. Downside is....too thick and big. No organizing labels inside. I couldn't remember what filter I've slot in which compartment and the inside material is not as smooth as the lee 1. The design is basically a filter organizer inside a square pouch. I'm not sure whether will it bend my filters if I put inside my backpack but there are enough rooms for me to put cardboards or even plastic at the front or back to protect my filters from bending.

In a nutshell for the 3 I've used and owned:
space saver (and u not worry about bending the filters) + bright red exterior easy for identifying your stuffs among your tons of gears -> clik elite valet
all-in-one, hook on belt, travel on the go -> Lowepro filter 100
easy reference, organised, best protection -> Lee mulitple filter pouch

I use the LowePro S&F Filter Pouch 100 and I'm not at all impressed with either the outer rigidity, no labeling accommodation and that the top flap doesn't seal the top as well as it could when closed. I do like that the top flap is otherwise well thought out - reverse opening, space to pinch the clasp closed - and I like that it has LowePro's sliplock clip on the backside. But that it is so flimsy is really unsettling and its use makes me anxious. For something that potentially holds over $1000 worth of delicate gear I'd like something a little more substantial.

If the Lee 10 Filter Pouch had a belt loop and space for the holder it would be the perfect solution. But, as it stands, the perfect 4x4(6) filter pouch has yet to be made.

I use the Adorama Slinger one as well and it is pretty nice. The back slot is also slightly wider and holds the Lee holder and 77mm wide adapter attached too. I agree with the top being a little too wide open. Other than that, it is a seems to be a good unit.

+1

Be aware that long term storage in the original microfiber filter wrap is not recommended by Lee themselves. I brought the ND Grad kit a few years back and kept the filter stored in their original cloth, I didn't use them for around 6 months. When I came to use them they had reacted with the cloth, causing them to become streaky and faded.

On talking to the Lee product manager he said they do not recommend storing the filters in their wrap over a long time. Apparently they had some problems a couple of years ago with the coatings reacting causing the problems I experienced.

Good on them they replaced my filters. Not had a problem with them since.

Edit: just found this (external link), so it looks like they're still having problems.

Thank you, I did not know that. I will remove the paper from the filters.

yes I saw that somewhere...not the paper, just the biege color microfiber wrap that you get when you purchase a kit or u can buy it separately. They are good for storing when shooting (even though you still need to put them into hard case when transporting). Cleans off your fingerprints especially if you handheld them like me. But not for long period of storage.

I stopped by Vistek to buy the Lowepro 100. What terrifies me is that it does not look like case does a good job in protecting the filters. I was hoping for the slotted pouches to offer a lot more protection [they seem to cover less than 40% of the area of a 4x6 filter].

Ben .. are you wrapping the filters at all in anything when storing them in the S&F 100? It just doesnt feel like they get the full protection in that holder.

Comments welcome.

It's 100% coverage. Don't forget the front of the next slot is made of the same material as the inside of the slot and should be thought of as another side to the individual slot.
