Contrast and color seem great to me. My editing style might show otherwise, but the images don't seem washed out to me.

i got mine today and i AM seeing the washed out images.
i always call them milky when ever a lens does this.
its like a slight milky haze over the image, which could be different than just washed out.

even with the EG-s screen focusing is impossible via the viewfinder.
its just way too narrow DOF and a teeny tiny bump of the focus ring will make it out of focus. plus this focal length is wide and "distant", not narrow and in your face like a 85mm, and focusing is that much harder.
frankly i dont thnk the EG-s screen helps on focal lengths like this.
i have only seen the benefit on longer focal length lenses. but thats my opinion.

metering on the 5D MKII is all over the place... +1, -2/3 -1, every picture i take i have to take multiple to get it right.
live view does the opposite.
what was +2/3 is now -2/3 or so.

very strange... i dont have this problem with my M42 lenses but none are 35mm either.

I have noticed some metering issues every now and then, but I edit in lightroom, so I can correct the exposure as needed.

Yes, I imagined that in your case it could be due to editing style. But many other pictures I've seen around (incuding on other sites) do look washed out and/or yellowish. In other examples, colors look overcooked in PP as to compensate for this issue.

I am very interested in this lens, but I am starting to think Samyang kept the cost down by using cheap glass :(

Wow, Noodlz, those ribs have "pop."
I've been practicing with my focus screen on my Sig 50 (in Manual mode) and feel pretty good about my results, but am worrying that 35mm is just too close to 50mm... I love the look of this lens, and it's "bargain appeal", but am leaning towards a 24mm. If only they made one of those!

Yes! A 24mm 1.4 Samyang would be fantastic, especially if they can achieve a similar quality to this one at a similar price, I'd be all over that for sure! The 24L II definitely needs a challenger as it's so darn expensive and if Samyang can do it again with the corner quality then it'll be happy pants time. Heres a few more images which have a 3D feel which I believe is quite achieveable with this lens :)

Damn, Noodlz, I'm trying to convince myself I don't need this lens...you aren't helping.

Trying out landscape photography. Shot handheld, manually masked to a HDR composition.

QUOTED IMAGE

Hold on... How the... what?! Beautiful shot. And hand-held? Amazing!
What exactly do you mean by manually masking to HDR composition?

This is definitely a lens I'd like to get. I love my Rokinon 85mm. Added a AF confirm chip to it and it works great.

Excellent shot!

well i am not sure if i should just return the lens or rma it for another.

but after looking at all these fantastic shots i can say for 100% that my lens will not produce the same quality of images i see here.

yes i totally understand none of these are straight out of the camera.
yes and i am not the photoshop guru many of you are but i can usually pull off something nice.

none of the images coming from this lens feel right, look right, and i hate it.
i see the potential but i feel like either my camera just isnt agreeing with this lens, or the lens just isnt right.
sure i can hack up shots to make them look like this.

IMG NOTICE: [NOT AN IMAGE URL, NOT RENDERED INLINE]

either way... i have to make up my mind.
