Bridalvail Rainbow

I recognize a lot of Yosemite in this thread (and for good reason) :). Here's one of mine.

Nice! It's beautiful there for sure. It was really packed the day we went so kind if a pain to get good shots with people either standing in front of where you want to photo or people just walking everywhere. Look cool at night too. Where you on the canada side? I was there the week before last I believe. Nice place.

Cumberland Falls and the nearby Dogslaughter Falls in southeastern Kentucky near Corbin.
1. Dogslaughter Falls - this one is about 1 or 1.5 miles from a forestry road on the right before you get to Cumberland Falls. It actually empties into the Cumberland River just down from Cumberland Falls.

2.Cumberland Falls in Corbin, KY. It's over 120ft wide and drops 68 feet. It's known as the Little Niagra because of it's size, and on a clear night with a full moon, it's the only place in the western hemisphere where you can see a moon-bow.

I went to both the US and Canada side. Spent a night at the US side and two nights at the CA side. Night life there was sweet at Clifton Hill. About 3 blocks from the hotel we stayed at and paid $10 for all day parking and leave when we wanted and come back when we want until 3am.
Yea way too crowded to get a good shot at night with a tripod. I tried to get close to the falls but way too many people to move in and having a tripod to setup was tough. I took some shots was crap. Way too blurry and people kept knocking into it. After 10 minutes, I got frustrated. I still got some nice shots of the Canada side but no close shots.
I was able to get steady shots right in between US and CA side of the falls but nothing closer. I want to go back in the winter time and get that with snow and the snow covered trees.

Edit: I look through this page and those prior then find myself wondering how I can capture such vivid colors as others seem to have managed. Possibly buy an Elan body and scrounge up some Velvia 50?

Actually, your colors are spot on, no need to enhance any further. Shots 2&3 are perfect! Just for kicks, try playing with your RGB channels or give a slight bump in color temperature to make a little warmer. But I really think they are great shots!

I saw a few falls during my trip to the San Juan Mountains. All shot with the 15-85mm and a welding mask glass filter.

Nice shot Itsed65! The boat in the bottom corner of the shot really helps give a sense of scale to the view of the falls.

Thanks. It was lucky timing as that is the only boat in the whole lake. It's drinking water, so recreational boating is not allowed, and only water distric/park service officials can be on the water. With all the snow this year, all the falls in the Yosemite area are really going!

Sadly, two hikers were killed here last week wheny they tried to get accross a flooded bridge over the river that feeds this waterfall. So far, they have only found one of them in the lake and the other is still missing. :(
