I had called beforehand to ask about the condition of the lens since I was a little scared to buy something that's refurbished. The operator told me they sell some overstock lenses as refurbished which gave me hope that i'd get a good lens. Well thankfully my lens arrived today and I'm delighted to say I got a brand new lens with a UY date code at less than the price of what some people are selling used. Very good day indeed. :). Cheers!

I've bought 3 lenses from the Canon refurb store, all have been excellent.

I ordered my first L glass yesterday through the Canon Refub store. Better price than used. Can hardly wait....

FYI, the "overstock" thing is BS (IMO). It just doesn't add up. There is no reason to sell an overstock of anything in canon's line because with canon gear, it's a seller's market. And why would they take overstock out of it's original box to put it in a white box? Only thing I can think of is if it was overstock at the factory and they ran out of boxes... lol. We all know that since the tsunami canon can barely even make enough lenses to please the public, let alone make too many!

With that all said, i'd still buy refurbished lenses before I'd buy new. Reburbs have all been individually inspected to insure good working order. It's a good deal.

Overstock makes perfect sense to me. You never see Canon lenses on sale. They occasionally offer rebates though. It's a way to clean out inventory without price cuts that hurt sales in the long run.

why would they need to clean out inventory? They can't even keep up with the buyer demands.
