Are there specific categories of photos to post to have critiqued?

Other than off center and ever so slightly out of focus, it's a great shot! If you boost the mids a bit, you may be able to highlight Purbach's Cross.

Indeed and it's a picture of half of the moon - to an uneducated person such as me on this subject, somewhat mundane but experts may disagree.

I gotta go along with this sentiment...it just doesn't seem to do much from a photographic standpoint.

This was my first time with my Tamrom 200-500 shooting the night sky. It was very windy out and I found that I need a beefier tripod with my 7D and this Tamrom lens. I am the end of my first year of shooting with a DSLR and I have tons to learn.
