Get a Burton 28L backpack. It has slot for laptop and the space can fit a 1d+lens fine. I use this for my daily bag. Infact any backpack with laptop slot can do this. You can get a pouch for the camera and lens.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The Burton 28L is a nice backpack but a bit too big for my liking.

I think I'm just going to buy a regular North Face backpack and put in some dividers and stuff for camera gear.
Does anyone know a good cushioning/camera system/dividers or whatever you might call it to put in a regular backpack? Can't seem to find any..

Oh yeah, it also needs to fit the 1Ds haha.

Thanks!

Went to the Toronto Indy, not as a ticket holder though, so walked around the fence line to see what I could get.

Found this spot which was okay

Next year I hope to go back with a better lens, a ticket or a press pass :)

Cheers,

jj_glos, very nice. It has an 'Alice in Wonderland' quality to it.

Got my 1Ds MKII about a month ago and I absolutely love it! Working with a 50mm 1.4 and the results are great.. but still lots (and lots) to learn.

I was wondering how do you guys carry the camera around when you're only using 1 lens? I'm looking for a backpack that will fit the 1Ds + lens. Not looking for a Lowepro or something like that. Plus the 1Ds doesn't fit most camera bags (unless you buy a huge one). I'd like something less obvious.

Does anyone use a regular backpack as a camera bag? I need something that'll also have a laptop compartment because I want to use it as a school bag aswell.
I'm thinking of buying a North Face backpack and put in cushioning for the 1Ds.. has anyone done something similar?

Going to Paris for 5 days next month and looking for a bag.. only bringing the camera + 1 lens. Might attach a light tripod to the bag. What do you guys use when you're carrying the camera all day long?

Thanks!

I use a black Billingham 225 shoulder bag. Low key and doesn't really scream out "expensive camera gear."

Unless they know enough about cameras to recognise a Billingham bag, in which case it screams out "expensive camera gear, probably Leica." ;)

 I'm not so sure the "snatch and run" types can tell though.

Cheers! I still lurk around, but post much less when I don't have any photos to share, but I've been travelling a bit and it's been great to get some more photography in recently...though procrastinating on processing pics is a recurring problem .
