70-200 f2.8 IS Mk2 on 5D2

Hello folks,

Got one of these on hire for a couple of weeeks before taking the plunge vs cheaper f4 version.

Anyone shoot with new 2.8 on a 5D2?, any comments good or bad?

Cheers folks - weight not too much heavier than my 100-400, Price especially in UK is high, but 5D2 deserves the best lenses I suppose.

Hopefully it will be as good as everyone says is is.

I shoot the two mkIIs together for sports and portraits. Great combo. You'll get used to the weight thing.

i bought mine a few weeks ago in jacobs shop in uk for £1850.

using it on a canon 400d and pffffff

what can i say............... The lens was made my aliens. It sees things clearer and better then the human eye!

And all on a simple 400d.

Ona 5d mk2 i bet its even better

If you don't mind the weight (very similar to 100-400), i would say forget about renting, just bite the bullet and and buy the lens. There are pleinty of images taken from the lens in the image sharing section in this forum.

Wow.

I just got one for my 5D2 and all I can say is "wow"...no, really...It has stunted my vocabulary to simply "wow". The minimum focal distance is awesome, too. I also got the 1.4x III with it since I had to sell my 100-400 to fund the lens (I'm doing a lot more wedding and portrait work than wildlife these days) and the sharpness with the TC is better than the 100-400 ever was.

Wow.

Oh...and for sports and wildlife the combo above on my 1DmkIII is killer. Wow.

The sharpest lens I have ever used at wide open and I dont think there is anything better out there.

The image quality off this lens is truly remarkable.

Nothing better, imo, and works very well also with a 1.4x. My copy is slightly weaker at 70mm than at 200mm but don't read too much into that.

first 3-4 pages all taken with my 400d and this lens
