I know one is a chipping sparrow, common in North Dakota. Not sure what the other bird is. I cheated to get these shots by the way ;)

Here is my rig... I used a 24-70 2.8L. I didn't have my zoom yet. I just got my 70-200 2.8L in the mail so I'll have to try this again! Let me know what you think and go easy

Paul, you've got an American Goldfinch there and handled the yellow exposure well.

I admire the effort you expended to make your photographs. Try something, firmly attach a tree branch to the pole so the birds may perch on it. You could do this on the opposite side of the feeder. Then try photographing the the birds on it. You might like the results.

That's cheating! Just kidding, I like the set-up. It seems to work very well.

Yeah... If the shoe fits, wear it. lol :) It still took skill and patience to get the focus right in the wind and such. The problem with the shot of the yellow bird was there was this amazing female (I assume) but the stronger males wouldn't let her have a shot at the food. So the bird I did shoot was no prize in comparison to the clean beautiful female that couldn't get in line!
