If retroactive price-matching is not in their terms of sale, game over. I might understand your scenario for a new item and a store I can walk into, but an on-line store for a refurbed (or used though this is not the case I put them together) item, it's just not going to happen I'm afraid. Understand your pain, but it won't work unfortunately :(

If anyone bought a 5d2 during this sale on impulse and might want to sell it, shoot me a PM! :)

I just got my refurbished 5DII in the mail yesterday, it seems like new (<200) actuations, but the multi-controller on the back does not seem to work properly. It does not work as a button (when I press it down in the menu it does nothing) and does not work to select AF points. Also the movement is a bit sloppy, I can sort of bend it one way or the other and it navigates in that direction, in previous cameras I've owned you needed to get it past the "click" before it does anything.

I was just wondering if this is normal for the 5D II as I have not owned one before, or if there's some custom function I'm not seeing to enable these features.

Any idea when they will restock the 5D2? I don't really care about the sale price.. I just want one, period.

I really think they do these types of sales to mess up with our heads. I want one also and now do not care that it is not on sale. I need to distract myself to other things. Visiting this forum does not help!

Haha. They absolutely do. I talked myself over a 2 week period into buying a refurb 5D2. Kept telling myself i didn't need one. Finally called in and go a nice lady that offered me 10% off. Talked my wife into being ok with it. Called back and they were sold out. At that point i was so set on getting one that i went to Amazon and ordered one new, full price...

It really does work that way. =oS

Was there a secret code word to getting that 10% off, besides "please?" :)

I'm tempted to pick one up at the full refurb price, now that they're back in-stock. They seem to have at least 10 right now -- I guess they did know what they were doing, getting us all primed to buy... After tax, though, it's about $2170 for me, vs $2499 brand new (no tax, prime shipping) at Amazon. Decisions, decisions...

check the manual, i think u have to change a menu setting for the quick control focus.

You have to scratch your head, how can 1 out 3 make you the offer, either it is or it isnt available.

I can say In my last order, my order taker was going to charge me more money for shipping ground, when they had a less amount set fee for 2nd day.

Have to watch those order takers !!!

Buy new since you have one year to make sure everything works, versus three months for a refurbished one. There is a good chance that the refurbished one will be perfect, but $300.00 is not worth having second thoughts in relation to the condition of a possible "lightly-used" camera. Now, if Canon would keep regular the warranty on their cameras and lenses, then it would be a better deal.

But I would buy an Apple refurbished product any time, since these are offered with the same warranty as new products (no difference whatsoever).
