I assume the unavailability of high end Canon and Nikon camera's is due to the tragedy in Japan? How are things coming over there?
Will we see any new camera's in the near future... or even see the prices come back down on high end stuff?

There are still shortages, but from what I can tell things are starting to look up. Darren

They have them in stock. A few weeks ago they went for as high as 230,000 yen (ouch!). Daniel

I walked into a local store here, and their Nikon section was full of the full range of cameras (up to the D700) and glass, and the Canon section basically had an XS and 500D, one or two lenses, and the rest of the display was pathetically empty...

Many products are selling at premium prices or simply out of stock - companies will continue to focus on these. The disaster in Japan has given us finance geeks/economists as well as manufacturers, a rare view into the economics, elasticity of price and demand, for consumer goods.
