I think the 17-40 is an awesome range on the 1D

Lol. I had the 70-200 f4 and 17-40 last year. Traded them both for a 70-200 2.8
The deal was not on my side but really needed the 2.8 at the time.
Plus I got the 70-200 f4 for $450 and the 17-40 for $530. I got a hell of a deal for both so I didn't mind.

Very nice, I got the 17-40l for 500 and the 70-200l for 480, both locally in boulder with original boxes and such.

I may well be rejoining this group before too long! Got my eye on a 1Dc just hoping I can sort out funds before it gets sold!

I loved mine but unfortunately it died of mirror box failure at 25k actuations and was sold. I'm gonna justify it because having a spare body is always nice and there's a certain quality to the 1Dc's images. Not to mention it comes with a charger (which I already have) so I can recoup some money by selling that on.

Oh and one of my lenses will work at all apertures on it while it only works wide open on the 1DII (can't be rechipped unfortunately)

That's weird. I never had that lens compatibility problem between my 1Dc and my 1DII

Nah it's just that Sigma didn't get the reverse engineering quite right and the lens works on all the old EOS film cameras and the 1Dc (maybe the 1Ds Mk I?) but on anything more modern it will not work properly (eg only wide open)

I owned one sigma lens for about 6 months but had to get rid of it because for the life of me, I couldn't get used to the reverse zoom (like nikon).

One of my favorite lenses for my 1D is a sigma left over from my film days. It has the pretty much the same problem.
It is a 75-300mm. f/4.5 - 5.6 AF APO.
It's really to bad they don't make this lens anymore.. Not exactly the best lens ever made and it is a bit soft at 300mm.
But I like the slide-zoom and I honestly think that soft need not be a bad thing.
Payed about $750 for it, when it was new.

wow that sliding zoom seems very awkward in my personal view.

I'm a little frustrated with craigslist users. Ive had my 1D on craigslist for the past week to try and clear up my funds for my dog and an individual emailed me yesterday offering 350 for just the body (as stated in the ad) and I agreed. All of a sudden, though in the ad it states body only, he says he wants my 28-105 with the body for 350. Im so furious at how the majority of craiglisters try to take advantage of you when they know your circumstance and or are wasting my time. /rant

guess I'll have to find other ways of clearing up funds.

It's not only craigslisters... I've had people on here say they'll take my T2i or 30D with lens for my body only asking price.
