In the end, the RRS tripods come out ahead. I did not expect something else from RRS. RRS rocks.

Interesting comments on the bottom. I hadn't heard of problems (but I didn't look for any either to be honest). Someone local was selling a RRS tripod for about 2 weeks earlier this summer. I wasn't sure why it was available for so long. He/she wanted $600ish for it, though I can't remember which model it was. Maybe it had that fault and they just wanted to get rid of it. gordon

"After using (and buying) the TVC-24L and TVC-34L, there remains no doubt in my mind that the RRS tripods are by far the best carbon fiber tripods available on the market today. I have abandoned my Gitzo tripods of similar size, and I’ll be using the RRS tripods from now on." I've got the 34L and although I lack the expertise to know if these are the best or not, they're the best I've used. excellent, Cameras - 1DMKIV - 1DMKII - 7D W/Grip

You could have bought it and turned a quick $300+ on eBay. But the decent thing to do would be to tell me about the deal so i could have. - James -

I've had my TVC-23 since January and I haven't had any problems with the pull tabs.
