Hi,

I bought this octobox (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …it_INT484_36_Octobox.html (external link)) to use with my vivitar 285hv.

I thought I had all the necessary parts but found out I need a sort of bracket to attach to my light stand and to hold the flash.

I'm a little bit lost, what do it need to order ?

Thanks

Hmmm, are you sure this is for a speedlite? I can't find any bracket for speedlite for this octabox.

All of their speedrings are for strobes.

I don't think its made for speedlights but it seems like some people are using it that way..
what I found in the reviews about this octobox on BH.

I've been looking to add a softbox to my lighting setup but wanted to use my Nikon Speedlights as my light source. This softbox came with a "generic" mounting ring which made it easy to pair with a bracket for holding my Speedlights. Setup was a bit slow as their were no instructions, but I went to the website and found what I needed. Inside baffle spreads the light nice and even. Great product, great value.

This octobox probably would have got a full 5 stars if there would have been any instructions included. I managed to put it together in about 11 minutes and discovered I put the ring in backwards. I am rating it based on the price so it is a good product with a good build quality. I planned to use it with my 580ex ii, but that will require some additional hardware that I ordered from Cheetahstand

Based on the 2nd comment / review, looks like you'll need this.

I use a 24x24 with a hole drilled in the ring and a simple L bracket with cold shoe attached. mount it to the top of light stand and have the stud go through both the hole and one in the bracket with flash laying flat pointing into the softbox. If you want a picture I will take one and post it up.

This is a quick shot so you can see very minimal DIY and gives options.

This shows the bracket and how just assembled ontop of my umbrella adapter (external link).

Just trying to show the ring from the adapter and how it is long enough to attach.

And this one shows everything, I had the aluminium lying around, if it had been longer I may have bent it round to meet and fit two flash.

If you want any info just ask it was so simple and cheap.
