Unless you live in Yukon or Alaska, it is unlikely you've seen the Haines Junction YT area in winter. The Kluane National Park is in this area. It is beautitul any time of year.

Last Sunday there was a clear blue sky and the thermometer climbed to -14C (7F). My aunt, whom I was visiting in Whitehorse, and I decided to take a drive to Haines Junction. I had not packed my 7D & lenses due to weight restrictions with carry-on baggage, so these are taken with the S5IS.

Even so, I thought you might enjoy seeing the Yukon at its best!

ONE - looking northward at km 1584 on the Alaska Highway

TWO - looking westward from the Alaska Highway towards the Kluane Ranges

THREE - southbound towards Whitehorse in the late afternoon

FOUR - sun setting on the mountains at 6:30 p.m.

Also saw six elk near the road ...

Lovely shots, Sue. I've been there, but only in summer.

Beautiful shots. Kinda makes the heat seem less hot.

- I discovered I scream the same way whether I'm about to be devoured by a great white shark or if a piece of seaweed touches my foot.
