Wrong with the tripod? na its brand new homie. the head is all good from what i can see too.

Well i did take it out of the box but i did not open it. stick my camera on it etc etc

Wrong with either of them, being new isn't a guarantee. I would seriously try them out, for all you know there could be a non-visible part that's broken and stops it from functioning correctly.

Canon 1D3.
Canon 24-70f2.8L.
Canon TC 80N3 wired remote. I think the remote setting were set to shoot at intervals of 10 min and forgot the amount of shots, I would have to go back in LR and check them out.

Thanks guys, I don recall maybe for a few hours, I just simply set the remote and walked away, then came back and stopped it. I will look it up later.

just bought the 055 but got the 496 head instead as it was half price. should eb ok for my 70-200m lens innit?
says it can take a max of 7kg so should be fine. have not opened and tried it yet. stuck it straight inside my luggage as im heading to the philippines tomorrow morning. going to sleep in a bit as i gotta be up in 5 hours LOL

The 496 will be OK for you. It is only a matter of being able to pan easier with the 498. You'll like the set-up. Post Philippines pics when you get some!

no overheating? i read the 5d ii shouldnt be used longer than 15 min or so for vid. maybe thats just the lcd being on or other bodies are diff?

He wasn't recording video, he was taking photos every 10 minutes or so. He then made those into a time lapse video.

What The Ran said. Great use for the Canon TC-80N3 wired remote or any remote similar to it. Quicktime player does the rest. Plus It was done with the Canon 1D3 and not the 5D II.

I'll be doing some of the same when my Trigger Trap comes. That reminds me, there's only 18 hours left to get one for $75, after that they go up to $125.
