Not sure if I posted these before. If so, it was back in February.

There's nothing spectacular about this photo, but it's neat to know that those mountains with snow are about 60 miles in the distance (almost 100 by car).

This last photo was not taken with the 100-400, but if you look closely, you'll notice that this guy is steering the boat with his foot while sitting on top of the car/boat. In his hands is the 100-400L. He's out of his mind. Can you imagine one bad cross chop and he falls out, the camera and lens go swimming, and his boat hits something.

Thank you. bw!

Have you found a way to carry it so it's both protected and ready for immediate use? Because I haven't.

I use a ThinkTank holster 30 v.20 with it, with the pop down feature you can leave the hood in shooting position and leave the lenscap off. I wear it with the shoulder strap.
The 2.0 holsters have a neat attachment for other TT modular components, so I attached the flash pouch to put my sunglasses in

Interesting -- so it doesn't all get "in the way"? I've been using a Lowepro backpack that accomodates a body, two or three lenses and other stuff, but I'm always happy to conserve "bulk"!

these are my first 4 shots with this lens. The push pull will take some getting used to but I think I'm getting the hang of it

Just the 7D + 100-400 is allright on my shoulder, but I'm really biking in a relaxed mode and not fast.
Today I brought some more stuff in a backpack, but my shoulders and neck say they don't like it

I find this lens to be very respectable in the sharpness department.

The lens hood looks wrong for a 100-400L.

I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!

^^^ Good observation. I'll have to grab the original and take a crop and post it.

I'm back with the crop (and noticed that the dude has a video camera mounted to the flash bracket. So he's shooting, filming, steering, and throttling all at the same time).

Looks like a 100-400 to me, but I suppose it could easily be the 28-300 or the 70-200 2.8.

Thank you. bw!

The sun, taken with the 100-400 + 1.4x extender (and cropped a bit), and more importantly some very strong filtration (don't try it without!).

The Sun is amazing. Great shot, by the way. Did you use welder's glass?

Nice, the last time I did a sun photo back in 1994, I used a special filter that fit over the lens. I need to get some for my 100-400!

It was a day or two ago. The main sunspot groups will still be visible. I used the B&W 10-stop filter, and added a Cokin 3-stop ND for focusing (removed for the shot).
