I don't think I've seen that Sandpiper shot before Romy. It's a beauty. Well done.

Some more bird shots from a couple of weeks ago. This lens is now very much my default choice for birding. All the cursing during setup is cancelled out by the quality of the images I get from it.

After many trips to Shelley Beach, Port Macquarie, Australia, looking for Osprey in flight, I finally managed to get some shots. Not the sharpest, but nice poses :).

I thought I'd try a few flight shots of small birds myself. Here's the results. All taken with the 1DMk2 at shutter speeds of 1/600s and 1/2000s. Focal length was around 500mm.

That might well be the most detailed sigmonster moon shot I've seen so far. No visible CA around the edges. Did you desaturate it?

Thanks for the kind comments. The original capture was in RAW & developed in ACR, saved as a 16 bit tiff, then processed in CS5. Used Shadows & Highlights to even out the dynamic range & sharpened, using High Pass filter. Some colour temperature adjustment was required in ACR. The image is not monochrome.
