Give Away Old Software?

A fellow photographer friend has an old version of CS4 on her PC. She doesn't use it anymore. About a year ago she got a Mac and upgraded to CS5 so she could use it on her Mac. She now uses CS5 only. Is it legal for her to give away her old version of CS4 to me? Is it legal for her to sell her old version of CS4?

If she used the CS4 version to qualify for her upgrade to CS5 the answer is no to selling it and no to anyone but her using it. If not she can transfer the license to someone else.

As Frugal mentioned, her license to upgrade to CS5 was dependent on her owning and having registered her copy of CS4.

If you bought her copy of CS4, you might find yourself unable to register it with Adobe--it's already registered to her. She would have to deactivate her copy...which would de-activate her copy of CS5 as well. That might not have immediate repercussions for her, but it might if she has to clean her system and reload (and then re-register) the software.
