So your last CPL fell out the bottom of the holder? I just got the 4x4 CPL last week and have been using the 105 previously. I got the 4x4 because I don't like the vignetting below 14mm on my 10-22 while using the 105 CPL. So I am guessing the filter holder will wear in some more and the 4x4 will not be held quite so firmly?

It happens rather quickly, too! Early on there wasn't much of a problem, but now I can slide the CPL in, while sitting staionary in a tripod, gravity will be enough to slide the filter out and onto the floor. I'd recommend edging the filter with some electrical tape or something similar. That does the trick.

Ben, your idea was similar to something I wish Lee would offer.

There's some money waiting for someone to design something like that.

Or you could just put two elastic bands around it vertically. There will still be give to move the filter up and down but will surely prevent it from falling out the bottom?

This is what we refer to here as boer maak 'n plan.

the newer Lee holders sold as "century optics" actually have a thumb screw on the side to prevent this. I thought of the tape idea too, but eventually it will wear off I'd bet (we use it all over our boats and it's constantly coming off, but exposed to the elements far more). Those screws were in my local hardware store and cost $1 per SET (I got two just in case) and work perfect. Easiest solution IMHO. But they're zync plated steel, so they will rust, they didn't have SS or brass....

Also, B&H sent me an email this morning saying they have the 4x4 CP in stock again.

Ben, can you share the information( thread, size, length) of the screws that you got? That looks like a great idea. Thanks!

they're M2 threads. total length w/head is ~9mm, total w/o head ~8mm (ie the head is ~1mm thick). The nut is also very close to ~1mm thick.
