^^From the looks of the pic, it looks like it fits without removing a slot. Am I correct?

^ damn, I was all ready to say "how much nicer could a piece of glass be?" but wow, that DOES look a lot nicer.... How much and a link?

You know how people talk about "L" glass... well guess you could say the same about this CPL

Steve,

I saw the Schneider is 4mm think where as the Lee is 2mm. Is that a double wide slot I see on your holder? If so, does that make it unusable for other 2mm thick filters in that slot?

Thanks, Tom

You might be able to get away with putting a 2mm filter in the slot, as it has a plastic type thumb screw... but really 99.9% of the time you are going to have the CPL in there.. right...

and yes it is a 4mm holder from Schneider, bought at 2filter for less then $5 and $3 for the longer screws.

$240 bucks?

Is there any difference with that and the Lee beside the thickness?

I do not have both, so I cannot compair side by side.

correct, I just bought the longer screws and added the 4mm holders with the (2) 2mm holders it comes with.

If you look back at my second picture, you will see the black plastic thumb screw that you can tighten up to hold your CPL from falling out of the holder.

$240 bucks?

while that's not cheap, the Lee is $180 and often out of stock, this is only 33% ($60) more... I'd grab this -vs- waiting on the Lee if I had to make that choice...

which holder is that and where did you get it? I've seen the thumb screw on the century optics holder (which is a renamed Lee holder).

Does 2filter list the 4mm spacers and screws anywhere on their site, or is it something you have to ask for? The only issue I see with this is that I also use my lee 10-stopper in the inner slot a lot of the time, but I've never used it with more than one other filter, but using it one slot out means I'd lose the seal... Maybe put the 4mm spacer furthest from the lens?

Because I was waiting for the Lee, that is how I ended up with the Schneider. After I had the Schneider in hand the Lee was in stock at B&H, so I bought it as well. When the Lee arived, and I put it next to the Schneider I could not give the Schneider up... so the Lee was sent back to B&H.

As for my holder, it is a true Lee holder... just added the 4mm holder / spacers for the Schneider CPL which has the thumb screw. When I was talking to 2filter, they told me what I would need to make it all work... so not really sure if it is on there site or not (they need a little work on their site anyway)

Your question about the Big Stopper and placement with the CPL is something I have been thinking about (I dont have the BIG STOPPER yet so I have not been faced with this problem) Not sure if I will end up with a big stopper (thought I heard the wait was going to be 3~4 months) or get the 6 stop Schneider. But you do bring up a good point, not sure but I think the CPL would work ok one spot out.

If 2filter offered that slot with the thumbscrew seperately it would save us from using inferior DIY solutions. That thumscrew looks like the perfect solution. Gonna have to give them a call tomorrow.

The question now is, will you vignette at 16mm on a 16-35 II? :)

They do not make it in a 2mm, only 4mm so it will not work out for you Lee CPL.

I have a feeling you will. The extra 2mm might be pushing it. If you do, I would take out one slot to prevent the issue.

That is why I asked about the 2mm filter in that slot earlier.....I am on the waiting list for a big stopper. Also was wondering about the vignetting.

I just got my Lee and think I will keep it but the Schneider looks pretty good. I would agree if I was waiting for a Lee, this would be tempting choice.

Here is one from the other day, not the best subject.... but you get the idea and I am just trying to get use to the new type of filter system. Used the Schneider CPL and Lee 3stop soft GND with the 7D and 17-40 @ 17mm.

No... would love a 5dII but I do wildlife and some sport / motorsports so I have the 7D only.
