So here's what i currently have thinking of adding a lens under 1500?

Canon 7D (40D) Backup (battery grips on both)
Siggy 24-70 2.8
Canon 70-200 2.8 is mark II
Canon 430 EX II

and about 65GB of CF cards

a couple of fast primes would be nice with your kit. backup body wouldnt hurt. i'd be picking up a 30 1.4/85 1.4 combo if it was me. if you'd get a new sig 30mm f/1.4 and a used canon 85mm 1.8 you could find a used 40d/50d for a backup body. im dying for the sig 85 1.4/30 1.4 combo though myself.

Nothing to see here....

Sigma 30 1.4 and the Canon 10-22. No question. Two amazing crop lenses for under $1500.

You don't need a diffuser, but I would look into getting another flash just in case the 430 dies on you. Yongnuo's YN-468 is about $100. And I second the Canon 10-22. It's a range you don't have covered and a great lens. One I'd LOVE to have someday.

What you've got is fine and is what I use 80%. I do however use a 50mm prime also. Think about a second camera though.

Rent, don't buy. A 10-22 could come in handy for the church or if you get stuck indoors due to bad weather. A 580EX II with a battery pack will probably make the most difference to your results.

I don't rate the 30 F1.4 any more, or any Sigma prime lens for that matter. Poor focus.

Is 24mm going to be wide enough for you on a cropper?
I'd either rent a 17-55 or as Tim suggested, the 10-22.
Otherwise, everything else looks good.

Screw the lens get extra batteries...maybe just one set or two ;) then pocket the money and add it on to an emergency/maintenance budget for the end of the year.

Sigma 8-16mm
Tokina 11-16mm
canon 85L

which to go with? got a few weddings coming up ... so should be an interesting purchase

Get a used Canon 10-22. They're always popping up in the marketplace forum on here. Great lens, and well worth $700.

I wouldn't sell my 10-22. Perfect WA focal length for crop sensors.

I have the tokina and I really like it. It's 2.8, and I can mount it in my 5d2 at 16mm and get some awesome shots.
