Superdome focal length?

I have looked on all sites that I can think of pertaining to appropriate, or legal, focal length for a camera that is not with the media being brought into the New Orleans' Superdome. I have a 55-250mm that I would like to bring with me to this Friday's opening preseason game (Saints vs. 49ers). I have even emailed a "contact us" email on the Saints website to be quite sure that I would not get turned around at the gate. I know my 55-250mm is a huge lens, but I would hate to bring my camera and have to leave it in the car. Does anyone have any idea or suggestion on this situation?

Best to call the Saints and/or the Superdome.

If there is a restriction it would probably not be by focal length. It could say no lenses longer than X inches, or no "professional" camera gear (whatever that means).

Their website sucks, that's for sure. I searched for 5 minutes and I could not find a clear policy (or any policy). All they say is that they have the right to search ticketholders and 'prohibited items' will not be allowed. I can find no list anywhere on the Saint's website listing these items.

The NFL is the most jealous of it's image rights among the big four sports and the most likely to ban cameras. Strange that the Saint's don't spell this out clearly.

That has nothing to with what kind of camera you can bring in to the stadium.

I've worked in the superdome several times, brought all the lenses and gear I wanted... of course I was on the sidelines.. but I've seen people being turned away for "professional looking gear"... of course like always it probably depends on the gate keeper you run into.

My advice, just take your point and shoot, go and enjoy the game.

I actually took jrbdmb's advice and called to find out what Clarence posted: 6" lens. I walked in with my neck strap wrapped around my wrist and was not even questioned.

I got harassed with a 70-200 at the arena once, said it was too professional. They could show me anywhere that said I couldn't have it, so I got escorted out. Lol
