I would have to get me one of them Scooter chairs they advertise for the Old folks on television. The 70-200MKII + a 1.4 TC at 280mm will provide the best IQ & should be sufficient for most Zoo trips and even with this combo i use a RS-7 Sport strap for comfort. If you still feel you need the longer reach then the lightweight 400/f5.6 prime + a monopod + a Better Beamer attached to your external flash would be ideal as a lightweight combo for prolonged consistent walking shoots like the Zoo and produce better IQ then the 70-200MKII + a 2X with your crop body sensor. I don't which zoo you go to, but the 70-200 with 1.4 should be good for the most part. Last time I went I took my 300 and 1.4, which is a good combo.
