Great Blue Heron? in London

I took this picture when I was in London recently. I really like how the photo came out with the Heron standing in a sliver of sunlight. I'm just not sure about the composition... I used a 55-250 IS at 250mm but perhaps I should crop the photo for a better composition so you can see more of the Heron.

I'm still relatively new to photography having only got my camera in February this year so criticism is appreciated. Thanks.

Cool shot. It's the Grey Heron, which is the very similar looking European counterpart to the Great Blue Heron.

That is a cool shot, I think you are right on the composition, there is a lot of room at the top, you have the Heron pretty well placed but it is a bit small for the frame, try cropping out most of the top and bring it in a bit on the sides, jmho, but it may bring out the Heron a bit more. I do agrre with you that sliver of a beam of light is great, good eye seeing that.
