My Sony NEX C3 Review

My Wife ordered a Sony NEX c3 for herself...and i decided to mount some FD Lenses on it.. a Canon 50mm f/1.8 and a ProMaster Spectra 7 28mm f/2.8 Canon FD mount... Both lenses were purchased from Adorama for 19.99 each...

Anyhow, I am impressed with the Sony, for a small camera the image quality is great.. the downside is that the Sony lenses suck.... even with Manual focus... But with the FD Lenses, the image quality is crazy, bokeh is creamy, if you Nail the focus that is!

it's reliable, but you still need to use the 10X zoom feature (focus assist) to nail it....

i think it will be nailed down with a firmware fix, but who knows... it's still an amazing Video camera...

Can you auto focus with these lenses?

The lenses that will autofocus on the NEX series are:

1) native E-mount lenses,
2) A-mount lenses, using one of the Sony adapters.

All other lenses are manual focus, but manual focus is very easy to do using the peaking feature and MF assist (i.e. magnifying the part of the image you want to focus on).

Joris is correct, auto focus will only work with the Sony lenses....

Mnual focus is quite easy when you have a super bright LDC in the back...

The peeking mode is really a hit or miss especially for shallow depth of field. Like, if the depth of field is +/- 5 cm, within that 10cm, the contrast line will be high lighted in the peeking mode. So, if the subject is not exactly at 0, but say at +3, then it is not perfectly focus. But I guess in a small print, you won't notice it. But if you zoom in 100%, you will see that.
