Can't help you there, as I already have one.

But to any potential buyers out there, I will say that it is a surprisingly good lens.
Quick and quiet ring type motor and full time manual focus. And IQ is not bad either.

Laptops usually have a mini firewire port
It looks like this ( the one on the right )

QUOTED IMAGE

depends on what laptop. but if you have that one, i think you need a 6-4 firewire
i need a 9-4 when hooking up 1dii to my macbook pro, 6-9 firewire for my 1dc

New 1D came today in the mail! Looking forward to checking the shutter count and of course... shooting with it! Just in time for school too :)

1D - ISO 200, EF 35mm f2 at f13, 1/640 sec

Should have used a higher shutter speed to keep it from being blown out, but the harsh midday sun makes it hard to see even the histogram on the back of the camera.

Here is a textbook example of why it's important to nail exposure correctly when you're using a classic 1D...they've got crazy high-iso banding, and pushing exposure in post makes it even worse.

I couldn't see the histogram when shooting today, thanks to the midday sun blasting me in the face...even trying to cover the display with my hand was mostly ineffective.

These cameras are remarkably capable, once you know how they work. Shots like this prove that you'll need to pay attention to what you're doing while shooting.

Wanting to keep the thread alive.

Been a week or so since I have posted anything. I am interested in everyone's opinion of these. They seem to be more noisy than usual.

All were shot with the 1D Classic, Sigma 100-300mm f4. ISO was 400 and all shot in manual. Processing done in LR and I cropped these for the web.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Scott

You can also learn to use something like Topaz or some other software and get rid of the banding in some circumstances.;)
Not always, but software noise reduction has come a long way since the 1D Classice was introduced.

These look excellent to me.
Iso 400 should not be to much of a problem with the 1D.
Removing the noise from Iso 400 should be easy for the noise reduction software we have at our disposal now.;)

I ran some NR using LR, the latest version. Once I posted them to flickr, they seemed to get some more noise in them. Maybe it's me, flickr doing something or both.

Thanks for the feedback. And the 1d is a great body. Don't know what I am going to do when it dies. But hopefully that won't be for long, long time.

I have and use Noise Ninja, but I tend to find that it can soften images more than I'd prefer. Typically, the 1D produces perfectly fine images so long as the exposure is correct. That is essentially true for any camera, though.

My example is a bit extreme, since it was an ISO 200 shot pushed several stops, so there is a distinct lack of detail. It was an excellent opportunity to show the banding effect, though, for some people who are just getting ahold of one of these cameras (or are thinking about it).
