Hi All, After reading this thread I'm back to the drawing board. I was thinking of between the 7-200F4 Is or the 2.8II IS but looking at this I'm thinking a prime lol. Do you all miss the gap between 100-200mm? I have 10-22,24-105,100L macro. I love my macro as a walk around lens. I would like some reach so I would be getting a Kenko 1.4x with this lens. Would this addition cover all my focal lengths?

Well that depends on what you like to shoot. I would miss it, but maybe for you it would work.

my primes go 50mm, 100mm F/2.0 and the 200mm F/2.8...I have a 70-300mm but my primes are so damn sharp with beautiful creamy bokeh, they are the ones on my camera all the time.

While I can certainly say I'd rather have the 70-200 2.8 II IS, since I have the 28-135 I don't miss anything between it and the 200mm. Maybe rent it and see what you think?

I'm having the same argument with myself. I have 24-105mm covered at f4 with IS already, so a 70-200 at the same aperture and IS seems half-redundant. I'm just waffling between this and the 135L. The 135 gains a stop in speed, but with my 24-105 I'm usually wishing I had more reach. I'm not sure 135mm would be enough. My big worry is the lack of IS. I rented a 70-200 F4 non-IS and had trouble holding a steady aim on my target at 200mm without IS.

Decisions, decisions. Time to rent one, I guess.

mk 1 on a 5D, hood retracted. Size is very close to (if not the same as) the current version.
