I let her do a bunch of silly poses first... while I was trying to figure out the placement of the umbrella and the settings on the camera... Here's one of those:

Haha... thanks; I'd rather photograph kids than adults anyday. Kids need a little direction, but I've found that if you stay playful, their poses almost always look natural.

These are cute but the eyes look overdone to me. Im guilty of it all the time as I can never get that eye pop that others have and I can never seem to get just right. Her eyes look like glass doll eyes to me. What method do you use to brighten the whites? Her expression in the first one is priceless however. A keeper for sure!

I increased the exposure for the eyes about 1/2 stop; will definitely tone it back next time.


Also working on getting a reflector or a second flash to try and cut down on the shadows on the opposite side of the umbrella.
