@Tony - Yeah, I figured that there is no other option but to resize them to specs before uploading to Google+, it doesn't resize pics like Flickr does. Oh the lazy me will have to do more or pay to subscribe to a Flickr Pro account.

@Ricardo - for us Northerners, it will be Fall very soon!!

All handheld taken over the weekend. Overall am pleased; just a tad disappointed because I could not get those eyes look meshed like often seen in many macro pics.

And out will come the fall colours.

We've had a mild winter until recently when a cold blast went through, but I must say I AM looking forward to spring!

Nice pics, BTW.....and I hope you guys have a more mild winter this year.

Thanks. And I hope so too for what you said about winter, especially because I am moving to the east of the country from the south-west... that literally means moving from an oven to a fridge!!

^^ In its early days of plummage? And no disrespect meant but it looks soft to me unless you deliberately wanted it to look soft. Either the aperture was too wide (even at f/8 with 100mm at at 2ft, you would have just about a 1cm of DOF with your 50D) or you took this from much farther off with another lens and cropped it a lot!!

Yep. The original is much sharper, however not focused on the eye, but on the neck plumage. with an aperture of f4, and focus on the neck, the eye does appear oof.

For the real closeups are people image stacking? Seems like the dof is soooo small lol I can't get anything to look good.

I usually stop down a lot. Yet, I agree one has to work with a very thin DOF and be very precise.
