This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I have posted a picture, re-sized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Otherwise, this photo was taken from the camera as is and unedited by myself.

The game will last 7 Days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #382."

Ends on Saturday, Sep. 3, at 8 am., eastern standard time.

In ACR, increased exposure, highlight recovery, blacks, selective colour change to reds and oranges. In CS4, straightened background and cloned out stuff. Selected flower put on own layer and created drop shadow, smart sharpen, stroke and flatten

Ok .. I guess I was thinking "outside the box" on this one :) Had a little fun!

This was quick with trial and error .. I do not remember everything I did but I will try.

Several layers, crops and rearranging.
Adjusted the color and contrast
Sorry, just can't remember. I will try next time

Increased the brightness a little bit, contrast a tick, I keep it simple. I try to make it look sharp then leave it.

In PSP 9: Straightened, cropped, increased saturation and brightness, sharpened, applied "enamel" effect, resized.

cut flower out of pic onto it's own layer, made new layer and filled with greyish color. Kept dragging flower layer onto background layer. changing lighting or color cast and size. Flatten layers, did some more. applied craqulature (sp) filter.

Just tried for the fun of it. I will probably won't have computer access the next couple of weeks.

Used curves to add contrast, palette knife to add a painting like effect, copied the original picture and placed it underneath then changed the top layer to lighten, 80%.

Here's my take on it:

A quick job on removing the window and seam on the siding using clone stamp and patch heal (this could have been done much more cleanly on a more important image), then adjustments to levels (move the right slider to the left until it hits the first place your histogram rises), contrast using curves layer, and color/saturation adjustment, then USM layer on only the flower - masked out the background (130%, 1px, 0), and straigtened the image using crop tool.

Ok a 1st attempt from me, I'm using GIMP

I started off adjusting the brightness and contrast, I then adjusted the colour balance, reducing the Cyan and increasing the Magenta and Yellow, from there I used the colour curve tool and made minor adjustments, lastly I messed around with a few filters and used one called Artistic - Comedy as it seemed (to my eye) to give a bit of grain to the wooden fence -not up to the standard of the rest but trying to learn

adjusted levels to increase contrast and bring out some details, straightened it up, gave it a more interesting crop, then put it on the back porch to let it grow.

Straightened, cropped, increased exposure and contrast, moved yellow hue to green and decreased yellow saturation, increased red saturation, slightly moved orange hue to red, increased green luminance and decreased green saturation, sharpened, slight added luminance smoothing, and removed window sill. All done in Lightroom.

Cropped, removed seam behind the flower, USM, adjustment layers, curves, layers, added scratch layers to make the image more like film scratches and added vignetting.
