^^^^ You did a great job with the 500D and the Nifty Fifty, keep sharing your work!

Thanks, glad to hear you like them. One can truly get great results with "just the basic gear" considering the nifty fifty is the cheapest canon lens out there.

paradiddleluke wrote in post #13030984 (external link)
great shots there, I'm guessing it was a silver reflector judging by the specular light?

and Dan i feel you, haha i've been holding onto this 50D since it arrived!

Yep, that's correct. I used the silver side on most of the shots but also tried the gold side. But it got a little too warm then.

meeko031 wrote in post #13032085 (external link)
...great shots, imo! I am planning on buying a reflector as well(i don't have any portraits to shoot that is why i have been procrastinating on purchasing) what size of reflector do you have?

Thank you! I have the cheapest 5in1 reflector from ebay. I think mine is the biggest one measuring 110cm if my memory is not lying.

With the right light, and I know this is true with any camera, but with the T1i, man that's when the camera really shines.

Lighting shmighting. Here is an ISO 3200 shot! (just a snapshot to compare ISO performance with the 7D)

Took me like 20 seconds to select it with Rectangular Tool in CS5 and hit Delete button (Content Aware). That's all

Looks like magic for me. I don't have Photoshop.

Hey guys,
First time posting in this section after looking at all your beautiful photos taken with the 500D.
Here's a shoot with nothing but a reflector.

Looks amazing, I can't get it done like this even close.

Dan and Luke, I am going to miss your postings around here, though with your skills, moving up in gear is a logical choice.

No i mean the skin looks to fake and the eyes look like they have been excessively brightened. Things you do in a program like photoshop.

I just looks a little unreal thats all.

also you should prob use sRGB colour space or you may encounter colour shift when you use the files elsewhere
