Hi all,
I just noticed that the leftmost focus point on my XTi does not illuminate. The camera will still focus and shoot as normal, I tested this with the 50mm and the kit lens. I reset all settings to default, took the grip off, both batteries out, no change ; all but that leftmost will illuminate when I cycle trough, tested in all creative modes... Any ideas ?

TIA

I'm not familiar with the XTi. I know that on my T1i some of the points don't illuminate when I believe they are in focus and I assumed it was because the camera disagreed with me slightly. Does the XTi allow you to choose one focus point only? Have you tried to select that focus point and check if it will light then? Just curious...

I like to push buttons on thingies that take pictures. Sometimes I like to push other buttons, too.

There is not much you can do other than calling Canon and having them service it.

wuzzittoya - yes, XTi does allow the manual AF point selection ... when I cycle trough them all illuminate but that one.

mrbubbles - I have a feeling I will eventually have to take in, but being short on funds it might not be any time soon. I'm just not sure if this a symptom of a more serious problem or something I can live with, since it will focus, just won't illuminate. Thanks again !

Had the XTi (400D) since it came out and never used any focus point but the centre. I wouldn't worry about.
