i used this lens for the first time last night with a 1.4X extender for soccer under terrible field lighting and although my shots are embarrassingly underexposed because of my choice to use the extender, this lens performed beyond what i imagined and the AF is lightning fast and the weight is not too heavy for me to shoot handheld through the entire game, kept hearing how heavy a 70-200 can get over time but i think the people that complain need to work out lol

im now a huge fan of this lens and cant wait to use it with the 1.4X extender during a daytime game

The beast arrived!

My 40D was a bit intimidated at first but now they seem to get along quite well.
