For instance, I had an err 99 show up, and it turned out to be the shutter that had died.

Anyway I know it has nothing to do with the Error 99 but in a way it dose. I overnighted mine out to California on Thursday and he got it on Friday by noon. By 3pm he had it fixed. By 4pm it was on it's way back to me. I got it today. Now that's service. I found him on E-bay he had a 100% feedback and all good ones. So I took the chance The camera is great now. It only cost me $79.00 plus one way shipping there. He sends it back Priority Mail with tracking number. He dose Error 99 repairs as well. You might check it out. If that does not work call in a repair order and ship it to canon. yes, it's probably the shutter
